A sombre mood has engulfed residents of Kakamega county following the death of police officer George Makori Ombui, whose passing has deeply touched friends, colleagues and social media users.

Details reaching GossipsNG indicate that Makori died after battling tuberculosis, leaving his family, friends and the larger Mumia community in sorrow.
Makori first served at Mwitoti Police Station before later being transferred to Shianda Police Station in Mumias East Sub-county. He was later moved to Lodwar Police Station, where he continued serving as an officer.
Many people online mourned him as a friendly and humble officer who related well with Gen Zs and ordinary wananchi, with several condolence messages pouring in across social media platforms.
In their tributes, friends also revealed that the late officer was a passionate supporter of English football club Manchester United, a detail that resonated with many football fans mourning him online.

On her Facebook page, a young woman penned a lengthy message to mourn Makori, whom she described as the father of her child.
She urged Kenyans to respect the police officer’s memory as she and her family come to terms with his death.
“Today, my heart is heavy in a way words can’t quite capture. I am navigating a loss that is as complex as it is painful. To the world, he was many things: a man with flaws, a man who lived a loud life, a man who loved women and perhaps didn’t always make the “right” choices. But to me, he held a title that no amount of gossip can strip away. He was my baby daddy. He was a piece of my journey and the reason my child is on this earth,” she said.
