If I Will Change Party 20 Times To Do The Right Thing I Will Do It, It Is Not A Leprosy—Nnamdi

Human rights activist and Obedient movement chieftain, Barr Okere Nnamdi, has defended the political decisions of Peter Obi, insisting that changing political parties in pursuit of good governance should not be condemned.

Speaking during a television interview on Arise News while reacting to recent comments by actor-turned-politician Kenneth Okonkwo, Nnamdi said Obi’s political movement remains focused on delivering what he described as a “new Nigeria” despite criticism from former allies.

The discussion followed remarks credited to Okonkwo, who reportedly downplayed the influence of the Obedient Movement and suggested that recent political developments involving Obi may not significantly affect opposition politics.

Responding to the criticism, Nnamdi accused some former supporters of abandoning the ideals they once promoted. He argued that Obi had consistently stood for accountability, fairness and competence in leadership, stressing that political decisions should be judged by their purpose rather than party loyalty.

According to him, Obi’s willingness to align with any political platform capable of advancing reform should not be viewed negatively.

In his words, “If I will change party 20 times to do the right thing I will do it, doing the right thing it’s not a leprosy.”

Nnamdi explained that political party changes are permitted under Nigeria’s constitution and should not automatically attract criticism. He argued that politicians have the right to associate with any platform that aligns with their goals and political interests.

The activist maintained that Obi’s actions were driven by the desire to remain politically relevant and available to Nigerians seeking change ahead of the 2027 general election….See More
