Speaking during an interview on News Central TV, the APC Publicity Secretary in Rivers State, Chibuike Ikenga, explained that he was not in a position to provide confirmed details about the governor’s screening process because he is not part of any committee handling the exercise either in Abuja or within Rivers State.………
Ikenga noted that many of the reports circulating about Fubara’s possible re-nomination remain speculative, stressing that no official announcement has been made concerning the outcome of the screening process. According to him, discussions surrounding the governor’s political future within the APC should not be treated as final until the party releases an official position.
He also reacted to reports claiming that Governor Fubara could be denied the APC governorship ticket because of an alleged political agreement linked to the recent political crisis in Rivers State involving former governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike. Ikenga maintained that such claims remain unverified and should not be regarded as confirmed developments.
The APC spokesman further emphasized that Fubara’s political future would ultimately depend on the willingness of party stakeholders and the electorate to support his ambition for another term in office. He stated that broad acceptance within the party would play a key role in determining whether the governor emerges as the APC candidate in the next election.…....…
