The Itsekiri ethnic nationality in the Niger Delta region has concluded arrangements to hold a mega endorsement rally for the second-term bid of President Bola Tinubu and Delta State Governor, Sheriff Oborevwori.

The endorsement rally, themed “The Itsekiri Stands with the Renewed Hope For M.O.R.E. Agenda — 4 + 4”, is scheduled to hold on Sunday at Nanna College, Warri, in Warri South Local Government Area of Delta State.

The event is expected to feature cultural displays and solidarity speeches by Itsekiri leaders, youths and women, while a motion for endorsement and adoption declaration will be moved by the Chairman of the Central Working Committee.

This was contained in a statement signed by the Chairman, Media and Publicity Sub-Committee, Comrade Alex Eyengho, and made available to journalists in Warri on Friday.

The statement noted that Governor Oborevwori is expected to attend the event as Special Guest of Honour at the invitation of the Itsekiri.

According to the statement, the rally is being organised to appreciate President Tinubu’s efforts, including sustained peace in riverine communities, economic reforms, inclusive appointments, and commitment to infrastructure projects.

It said: “The endorsement rally is being organized to appreciate the efforts of President Tinubu for the sustained peace in the riverine communities, bold economic reforms for long-term stability, inclusive appointments and respect for the Itsekiri institution and the commitment to complete East-West Road, among others.”

It further stated that the endorsement represents Itsekiris across Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West, as well as those in Delta Central Senatorial District and Edo State.

“The Itsekiri nation appreciates the road projects in Warri South, Warri North and Warri South-West Local Government Areas; homeland of the Itsekiri. Suffice it to say however that this endorsement is not just by Itsekiris in their homeland of Warri South, Warri North and Warri South West LGAs, but also by indigeneous Itsekiris from the Delta Central Senatorial district, which include but not limited to Uvwie, Sapele, Ethiope West, Ethiope East, Okpe and Udu Local Government Areas of Delta State, and those in Edo State too.

“Therefore, this endorsement is significant because the Itsekiri ethnic nationality worldwide are the ones endorsing Mr. President and the Executive Governor of Delta State,” it said.

The statement listed ongoing and completed projects including Trans Ode-Itsekiri bridges and roads, Kolokolo to Tisun road, Warri stadium project, rural electrification in Ode-Itsekiri, Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway, youth training programmes, student loan scheme and Warri Port reforms.

It added that the rally aims to demonstrate unity and political strength, mobilise grassroots support ahead of 2027, and project Warri as a centre of political stability.

It also quoted organisers as saying: “Itsekiri people do not change a winning team. Continuity protects our projects.”

“M.O.R.E. is working in Warri. Renewed Hope is working in Nigeria. This is a voluntary, people-driven endorsement — Warri stands for stability.”
