Thousands of All Progressives Congress stakeholders from Jigawa’s 287 wards across 27 local government areas have endorsed Governor Umar Namadi for a second term, as the party hailed unity ahead of the 2027 polls.
The NGGOSSIPS gathered that the ruling party in Jigawa State held a massive gathering on Thursday to affirm Namadi as its consensus candidate for the 2027 governorship election.
Party supporters from across the state filled Dutse Stadium in the state capital, turning the event into a show of force for the APC.
It could be recalled that the APC in Jigawa State recently held its primaries and consensus process for the 2027 elections.
The exercise covered candidates for 11 federal constituencies on Saturday, three senatorial districts on Monday and 30 state assembly seats on Wednesday. All candidates emerged through consensus.
During the latest event, stakeholders from all 287 wards across the state’s 27 local government areas gathered in their thousands to endorse the governor for a second term.
The affirmation was supervised by a national committee sent from the APC national headquarters, chaired by Isa Achida, with officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission, security agencies and other relevant stakeholders present to witness the exercise.
The process followed an earlier endorsement of the governor as the sole candidate for 2027 by elders of the party in Jigawa, the state party leadership and other key stakeholders in April.
Speaking at the event, the Chairman of the Governorship Primary Election Committee, Hon. Isa Achida, said the exercise reflected the will of the people and the unity of the party.
He said: “What we have witnessed today is a clear demonstration of internal democracy and party cohesion in Jigawa State.”
He added that the national committee was satisfied with the conduct of the affirmation across all 27 LGAs.
“This process was peaceful, transparent and in line with the directive from the national headquarters of our great party,” he said.
In his remarks shortly after his affirmation, Governor Umar Namadi thanked party leaders and the people of Jigawa for their trust and support.
“I am humbled by this overwhelming show of confidence. It is a call to do more for our people,” Namadi said.
He pledged to consolidate his administration’s achievements if given another mandate in 2027.
“Our focus remains on delivering people-oriented projects and improving the lives of every citizen in Jigawa,” the governor said.
Namadi also urged party members to remain united and avoid actions that could weaken the APC ahead of the elections.
He commended the national committee, INEC officials and security agencies for ensuring a peaceful and orderly process.
