Public affairs analyst Jide Ojo has called on Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde to clearly state the political platform on which he intends to pursue his reported presidential ambition ahead of the 2027 general elections.………
Ojo made the remarks during an interview on Trust TV while reacting to Makinde’s declaration that he would contest for president as well as ongoing discussions surrounding an alliance involving the Peoples Democratic Party and the Allied Peoples Movement.
According to the analyst, the governor must clarify whether he plans to seek the presidency under the PDP or through another political arrangement linked to the APM.
“He needs to come clean. Is he contesting to be the standard bearer of Allied Peoples Movement or under the faction he belongs to in PDP? Which is under the Turaki faction,” Ojo said during the interview.
The political analyst noted that the current situation within the PDP appears increasingly fragmented, with various camps and interest groups emerging ahead of the next election cycle. He suggested that Makinde’s political direction would become a major talking point as opposition parties continue consultations over possible coalitions.
Makinde, who is serving his second term as governor of Oyo State, has recently been mentioned among politicians believed to be positioning themselves for a possible presidential contest in 2027. His growing national profile and influence within sections of the PDP have fueled speculation about his next political move.
