The Yobe State Police Command says its operatives have arrested 23 suspects in coordinated raids and intelligence-led operations across the state.

The Command, through its Public Relations Officer, SP Dungus Abdulkarim, disclosed this in a statement issued on Thursday.

According to the Command, on May 14, 2026, at about noon, operatives attached to Tarmuwa Division, in collaboration with local vigilante members, carried out a major raid operation at Tashan Fulani Village, Tarmuwa LGA.

It added that during the operation, four suspects were arrested while in possession of various exhibits, including two and a half bundles of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp, five packets of liquid substances, 10 litres of a substance popularly known as “Suck and Die”, Tramadol tablets and Enzol tablets.

“Similarly, on May 13, 2026, at about 9:30 pm,, operatives of A Division Damaturu, during a joint night patrol and raid operation within Damaturu township, conducted coordinated operations at identified black spots including Zango CMC, Mass Transit Area and Jerusalem Ajayi.

“The operation led to the arrest of 19 suspects, comprising 14 males and 5 females.

“Recovered exhibits include Tramadol capsules, Exol, Diazepam tablets and quantities of dry leaves suspected to be Indian hemp,” it disclosed.

The police command also said all 23 suspects are currently undergoing screening, and those found culpable will be charged to court accordingly.

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Usman Kanfani Jibrin, has directed officers and tactical teams under the command to sustain the operational tempo and intensify efforts to flush out criminal elements from their hideouts.

He also called on members of the public to continue supporting the police and other security agencies by providing timely and credible information, while remaining vigilant and reporting suspicious persons, movements or objects within their communities.
