‘This Was A Bad Week For Iranian Regime, They Saw; China Roll Out The Red Carpet For Trump – Coates

President Donald Trump said China could begin purchasing more American oil following his summit with Chinese President Xi Jinping, a move that may add pressure on Iran as tensions continue around the Strait of Hormuz. The discussions come as global markets closely watch energy supplies and geop olitical developments in the Middle East.………

Speaking during an interview aired by Fox News, former Deputy National Security Adviser Victoria Coates described the meeting as a setback for Tehran. Coates said, “This was a bad week for the Iranian regime. They saw their prime patron, China, roll out the red carpet for Donald Trump.”

Trump suggested that stronger energy cooperation between Washington and Beijing could reshape oil trade patterns at a time when Iran remains under pressure from sanctions and regional instability. The Strait of Hormuz, one of the world’s most important oil shipping routes, has remained a focal point for concerns about global energy security.

Coates argued that China’s relationship with Iran is largely based on economic interests rather than political loyalty. She warned that Beijing would likely continue making decisions based on its own strategic and financial priorities, especially regarding energy imports and trade agreements.

The interview also highlighted concerns over how any shift in Chinese oil purchases could affect Iran’s economy. China has long been considered a major buyer of Iranian oil, giving Tehran an important source of revenue despite international sanctions.

Trump maintained that his discussions with Xi reflected growing cooperation between the two global powers on economic matters, while analysts continue monitoring how the developments could influence energy markets and diplomatic relations in the region.
