Mike Sonko pledges help for families who lost daughters in Utumishi Girls: “Tutasimama na familia”

Marynjeri Ndungu:

“It is traumatising as a parent. Jesus Christ of Nazareth, grant these parents peace that surpasses human understanding. To the ones who are gone, rest in peace.”

Anne Nyambura:

“Very painful and sad for the parents and families affected by this fire tragedy. May the injured children heal, and may those who lost their lives rest in peace. I pray for peace and strength for the parents and family members.”

Shiku Kamau:

“It is honestly heartbreaking to witness the state of our country lately. Every day seems to carry painful news, children losing their lives, others going missing, families crying for justice, young people struggling to survive, and citizens slowly losing hope in the systems meant to protect them. As a nation, we are hurting. The tears of parents burying their children, the fear in communities, the silence of those suffering in secret, and the growing pain among ordinary Kenyans cannot continue to be ignored.

A country should feel safe for its children, hopeful for its youth, and compassionate toward its people, yet so many are living in fear, frustration, and emotional exhaustion. We pray for healing, accountability, and humanity to return to our society. May leaders choose people over power, may justice prevail where negligence exists, and may every life be treated with the dignity it deserves. Kenya needs prayers, unity, and change more than ever.”

Ms Eveleen Mitei:

“In moments of profound loss, national solidarity, compassion, and swift support for affected families and survivors are essential, alongside thorough investigations to establish the cause and strengthen safety measures to help prevent future tragedies.”

Mũngai Mwaũra:

“Should dormitories really be storey buildings? Or should boarding schools have floodlights like stadiums? Just my opinion. To the affected families, may God comfort you.”

Stephen Mbogo, a father of one, said he no longer felt children were safe in schools following a series of heartbreaking incidents.

“When your child goes to school, whether day or boarding and comes back home safely, it is a blessing. A lot is happening in schools, and this Utumishi incident just says a lot. You can take your child to school in the morning only to receive bad news in a few hours. I can only urge managements to tighten their security and keep our children safe at all costs,” he told NgGossips.
