The proverbial “40 days” of the Nairobi thieves who went viral after being captured on camera stealing a car grille from a vehicle stuck in traffic have finally come to an end.

The trio were caught in a disturbing video circulating online, which showed how they worked in cahoots as they approached a vehicle stuck in traffic and tampered with it, as the driver watched helplessly.
As captured in the video, their first effort to remove the car grille failed, forcing them to briefly halt before trying again. Moments later, one of the men returned more determined and managed to wrench off the front grille.
The hapless motorist tried to drive away to protect his grille, but sadly, the traffic stood in his way. The incident is said to have occurred along Limuru Road, Parklands, on the outskirts of the city, on Monday, May 12.

Information reaching GossipsNG now indicates that the police have arrested two of the three main suspects believed to have stolen the grille from a vehicle belonging to the United Nations.

Details show that detectives from Parklands Police Station trailed and picked up James Omuya and John Owiti from their hideouts in Mlango Kubwa. The CCTV footage that captured the trio allegedly tampering with and removing the vehicle part helped identify them.
According to Sikika Road Safety, police in Nairobi are in hot pursuit of the gang’s third suspect, and anyone with information about his whereabouts is urged to inform the police.
Another Nairobi thief caught on camera
In other news, CCTV footage also emerged showing a man acting suspiciously in the early hours of Tuesday, May 13, at a parking lot in Kileleshwa, Nairobi County.
He also stole the front part of a parked vehicle.
