Hon. Afam Ogene, an ally of Peter Obi has linked the renewed legal crisis within the African Democratic Congress (ADC) to events that followed Obi’s registration in the party before his eventual defection to the Nigeria Democratic Congress.

Ogene, who represents the Ogbaru Federal Constituency of Anambra State and is also a recent defector to the NDC, made the remarks during an interview on SYMFONI TV while explaining the circumstances that led Obi and some of his supporters to leave the ADC-backed coalition.

According to the lawmaker, Obi had formally joined the ADC during a visit to his hometown of Agulu alongside supporters and political associates. He said the legal dispute that later engulfed the party resurfaced shortly afterward.

Less than one week from that date, the case filed by Nafiu Bala on September 12th 2025 was suddenly resurrected and given accelerated hearing,” Ogene said.
