Nollywood actress Mercy Johnson Okojie has faced online backlash following her unveiling as a brand ambassador for a menstrual care product known as Girls Tag, reportedly priced at N25,000.
The product, described as an all-in-one menstrual care kit for girls aged nine and above, was recently launched with Mercy Johnson and her daughter, Purity Okojie, introduced as its brand ambassadors.
Shortly after the announcement, actress Regina Daniels was also revealed as another ambassador for the brand.
However, the launch has triggered mixed reactions across social media. Many critics have condemned the pricing, calling it unrealistic and insensitive, given the economic challenges faced by many Nigerian women and girls. Some users also pointed out that high costs of menstrual products can force many young girls to miss school or resort to unsafe alternatives during their periods.
