A 79-year-old Lebanese expatriate living in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, has won Dh150,000 (about KSh 5.2 million) in a lottery.

Majed Albert Ghulmiyyah is a true testament to resilience and patience, as his win came after two decades of consistently buying lottery tickets in the hope of one day striking it lucky.
The retired man, who has lived in the UAE for 55 years, has reportedly been purchasing lottery tickets every month for the past 20 years.
His persistence finally paid off when he emerged among the lucky winners from Lebanon, the UAE and India in Series 287 of Big Ticket’s Big Win Contest, walking away with millions.

The total prize pool stood at Dh590,000 (about KSh 20.8 million), which was shared among several winners.
Majed reflects on his long-awaited win
Speaking after receiving his prize, Majed said he had never missed a month of purchasing lottery tickets over the past two decades.
“I have been purchasing tickets for over 20 years. Sometimes I participate with my wife and children, and other times on my own. But one thing has remained constant: I never miss a month,” he told Gulf News, explaining that the tickets he bought often depended on the available offers.

He recalled feeling overwhelmed with joy after receiving the call informing him of his win and inviting him to attend the Big Win Contest live.
The elderly man said he plans to use part of the money to create lasting memories with his family and is even considering taking them on holiday.
Majed added that he would share a portion of the winnings with friends and relatives while continuing to purchase lottery tickets every month.
