Katsina Gov Reacts as Kidnapped Retired Major General Dies of Hypertension in Bandits’Captivity

  • The Katsina State Government has confirmed the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar while in the custody of bandits, describing the incident as a major loss to both the state and the nation.

The Katsina State Government has announced the death of retired Major General Rabe Abubakar while in the custody of bandits, describing the incident as a devastating loss for both the state and the country.

The announcement was made in a statement issued by Dr. Nasiru Mu’azu, the Katsina State Commissioner for Internal Security and Home Affairs.

According to the statement, the retired senior military officer died as a result of complications arising from diabetes and hypertension while being held captive by his abductors.

“The deceased retired general died a natural death from complications of diabetes and hypertension.”

The state government noted that despite ongoing efforts by the administration and security agencies to secure his freedom, the situation ended tragically.

Mu’azu stated that the abduction and eventual death of the retired officer represented not only a painful loss for his family and Katsina State but also a significant loss for Nigeria.

Reacting to the development, Dikko Umaru Radda expressed deep sadness over the death of the retired military commander, describing it as a tragic moment for the state and a stark reminder of the security challenges confronting the country.

The governor extended his condolences to the bereaved family and prayed for the peaceful repose of the deceased.

Radda also reiterated his administration’s commitment to working closely with the federal government and security agencies to combat banditry and other criminal activities across the state.

He assured residents that efforts would be intensified to ensure those responsible for the abduction are brought to justice, stressing that the government remains committed to protecting lives and property throughout Katsina State.

The governor further appealed to members of the public to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible information and cooperating in the ongoing fight against insecurity.
