An elderly woman from Meru county is feeling helpless after being left with a heavy burden to her shoulders by a family member.

For years, Irene Wairimu has been the sole provider for her children and grandchildren, struggling to meet their various needs.
Wairimu, a mother of five and grandmother of six, has been taking on casual jobs to provide for the 11 family members single-handedly.
Speaking to NgGossips, she narrated how she found herself in that situation, which she described as both difficult and overwhelming.

“It started in 2019 when she left the first child. She did the same in 2020 and 2021. Then in 2022, she left two children, and in 2023, I do not know where she took one of them. She went away with one child. They all have different fathers except the last two, who are twins. I used to look for casual jobs so that I could get food for them to eat in the evening, then do the same thing the next day. I have done that until now when I can no longer find any work. My husband chased me away from our home, and I have nowhere to go,” she said.
Where does Wairimu live?
Her husband reportedly kicked her out of their home, telling her to raise the grandchildren elsewhere, as feeding 11 children was becoming too difficult.
Wairimu found refuge at her aunt’s home, although she noted that it is not a comfortable place to stay and fears she could soon become homeless.

Her biggest plea is for help in getting food for the children, as she also struggles to pay school fees and meet their other basic needs.
“I just want people to help me get food for them. I wish I could find someone willing to take in these children because then I would be better off and my children would be able to go to school. I do not know where my daughter is,” she added.

Baby found in Gachie buried under soil
In another story, tears and shock gripped residents of Gachie after a newborn baby was found buried under the soil near Ngabubu Dam.
The incident came to light when a passer-by noticed the infant in a shallow grave with only the face uncovered and immediately raised the alarm.
Good Samaritans quickly stepped in, carefully dug out the baby, and rushed the child to Kihara Hospital for urgent medical attention.
