Presidential Aide Daniel Bwala Says Tinubu’s Policies Benefit Poor Nigerians Most, Not the Rich

Special Adviser to President Tinubu on Media and Public Communication, Daniel Bwala, has argued that low‑income Nigerians are the biggest beneficiaries of the administration’s policies. Speaking on Arise Television’s Prime Time, he cited the Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) which has helped over one million students, the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) initiative, and healthcare subsidies for cesarean sections and dialysis as examples. Bwala maintained that these programmes target ordinary citizens, not the wealthy.

Key Points:

Many Nigerians struggling with rising living costs may find the claim hard to believe.
Student loans benefit a specific demographic, not all poor citizens.
CNG adoption is still nascent and not yet accessible to most low‑income households.
Healthcare subsidies, while helpful, cover only a fraction of medical needs.
Public skepticism online suggests the message is not resonating with struggling citizens.

The government faces a credibility gap as it tries to convince citizens that economic reforms are working for the poor, while hardship persists.
