The South East Development Commission (SEDC), led by its Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer, Mark C. Okoye II, has presented updates on its ongoing programmes, strategic partnerships, and key regional development initiatives during an interactive oversight session with the Senate Committee on South East Development Commission.

The session provided an opportunity for the commission to brief lawmakers on progress made in implementing its mandate to drive economic growth and infrastructure development across the South East region.

According to the commission, discussions focused on preparatory work for major regionwide infrastructure projects, including gas development initiatives, rail transportation projects, and other high-impact pilot programmes designed to stimulate economic activities and improve the quality of life for residents.

SEDC officials highlighted the importance of collaboration with stakeholders and development partners in ensuring the successful execution of projects aimed at unlocking the region’s economic potential.

The commission reaffirmed its commitment to transparency, accountability, and effective service delivery, stressing that all initiatives are geared towards achieving meaningful and sustainable impact for the people of the South East.

Members of the Senate Committee commended the engagement, which forms part of ongoing legislative oversight efforts to monitor the commission’s activities and ensure that development objectives are achieved in line with national priorities.

Speaking after the session, Mark C. Okoye II reiterated the commission’s commitment to delivering transformative projects that will drive sustainable development and create lasting benefits for communities across the South East.
