  • Daddy Freeze criticizes veteran gospel filmmaker Mike Bamiloye for defending Pastor Enoch Adeboye.
  • The criticism arises amid concerns over Nigeria’s worsening security situation, including kidnappings and violent attacks.
  • Some Nigerians are questioning Adeboye’s lack of public demonstrations against these issues under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Media personality Daddy Freeze has taken aim at veteran gospel filmmaker Mike Bamiloye over his recent comments defending Pastor Enoch Adeboye amid criticism surrounding Nigeria’s worsening security challenges.

The debate began after some Nigerians questioned why the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God had not publicly led demonstrations against the growing wave of kidnappings and violent attacks under President Bola Tinubu’s administration.

Responding to the criticism, Mike Bamiloye argued that it was unreasonable to expect the 84-year-old cleric to participate in street protests, particularly following the recent abduction of students and teachers in Oyo State. According to him, the church’s primary responsibility is to remain steadfast in prayer, seeking divine intervention and peace for the nation.

However, Daddy Freeze strongly disagreed with that position. In a video shared on Instagram, the broadcaster challenged the idea that prayer alone can solve a country’s problems.

He pointed to nations such as Singapore and China as examples of countries that achieved significant development through strategic planning, discipline, and effective governance rather than relying solely on religious practices.

“Prayer is not a strategy. Hope is not a strategy. Singapore got their independence five years after us. How did they get to where they are today, that their passport is the strongest in the world? Is it through prayer? Did China get to where they got to through prayer?” he said.

Daddy Freeze further argued that churches have spent decades praying for Nigeria without producing the desired transformation, suggesting that the institution should focus more on instilling moral values and promoting social responsibility.

“How can you tell me that the work of the church is to pray for Nigeria? That means the church has failed, because since 1960, you people have been praying, there is zero result,” he stated.

The media personality also maintained that the church’s greatest assignment should be teaching love, unity, and discipline among its members. According to him, the widespread absence of these values in society is evidence that religious institutions have not fully carried out their mission.

“Teach your members to love one another. The work of the church is to teach love, and the first thing you notice that is absent in Nigeria is that love. As a nation, our belief, especially Pentecostalism, has failed,” he added.
