Nigerian media mogul has opened up about why she no longer pays tithes to churches, sparking debate across social media.
In a candid chat with Chude Jideonwo, Toke explained that years of personal reflection reshaped her views on money and giving. She questioned why she should keep funneling funds into already wealthy church institutions while many individuals struggle with basic needs like rent, medical bills, and feeding their families.
She described the emotional toll some people face in religious spaces as “post-traumatic church syndrome,” noting that such experiences inspired her to rethink her contributions.
“Why give to a building that’s already funded, when there are people begging for help?” she said. Toke revealed that in the past, she even donated entire brand endorsement deals to her church, believing it would bring blessings—but today, she chooses to channel her resources directly to hospitals, widows, maternity wards, and individuals with real, urgent needs.
She emphasized that giving should come from personal conviction, not tradition or pressure. “Now, I give where it directly helps someone in need. The church is built. The pastors have money. Let’s help people the church cannot reach,” Toke said.
Her statement is already creating a stir, as fans weigh in on the balance between religious obligations and real-world impact.
