Dr Obwaka's death: Wails, heartbreak as body of gynaecologist arrives at his home ahead of burial

Dr Job Obwaka, the veteran gynaecologist, is set to be buried today, Friday, May 15, at his home in Musanda, Mumias, Kakamega County.

The late doctor’s body arrived at his home in the morning, where family, friends, and other mourners gathered to lay him to rest.

The former Nairobi Hospital director’s body was transported from Nairobi in a hearse, arriving in a dignified procession.

It was an emotional moment as tears flowed freely down the cheeks of mourners struggling to come to terms with the loss.

The doctor’s grandchildren could not hold back their grief as they broke down in tears and refused to be comforted.

“Grandpa, oh Grandpa,” one of Obwaka’s grandchildren was heard crying as she walked toward the family home in the village.

Other family members continued to alight from the vehicle as mourners gathered to comfort them and accompany them into the house.

Obwaka’s wife, Everose Chemtai, was seen being supported by two women on either side as they tried to calm her, though she remained overwhelmed by grief.

The heartbreaking scenes moved social media users, who flocked to the comment section to mourn with the family and share condolence messages.

In another story, during his requiem mass at CITAM Valley Road, Obwaka’s grandson moved many people with his emotional tribute, recalling how his grandfather cared for him and acted as a father figure.

A loving daughter, Gloria, also amused mourners when she revealed that Obwaka used to plait their hair, and they would walk around the compound standing at attention.

Kenyans continued to share emotional messages as they condoled with the 83-year-old’s family following the great loss that has deeply affected the medical fraternity.
