Fake Soldier Nabbed In Army Camouflage As Lagos Police Bust Impersonation Ring

A 32-year-old man, Samuel Nsughter, has landed in trouble in Lagos State for allegedly impersonating a Nigerian Army officer before he was apprehended by the Police. 

P.M.EXPRESS reports that the suspect, Nsughter, has been arrested and charged in Lagos over his alleged conduct.

The incident happened on 20th March, 2026, at about 2:26 PM in the Badore area of Lagos.

According to the Police, the suspect and others now at large, conspired to commit felony, specifically impersonation and unlawful possession of military uniform, which attracts several years of imprisonment.

The charges read:

“That you, Samuel Nsughter ‘m’ and others now at large, on the 20th day of March, 2026 at about 1426hrs, at Badore area of Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did conspire amongst yourselves to commit felony to wit: Impersonation, unlawful possession of Nigerian Army woodland camouflage and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 411 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

COUNT II:”That you, Samuel Nsughter ‘m’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did impersonate Nigerian Army by wearing Nigerian Army Woodland camouflage uniform to present yourself as member of Nigerian Armed Forces and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 77(a)(b) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

COUNT III: “That you, Samuel ‘m’ and others now at large, on the same date, time and place, in the aforesaid Magisterial District, did unlawfully have in your possession one Nigerian Army camouflage uniform and thereby committed an offence contrary to and punishable under Section 79(1)(a) of the Criminal Law of Lagos State of Nigeria, 2015.”

However, he pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor,Supol Josephine Ihkayere then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since he pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that he actually committed the alleged offence that brought him before the Court.

The Presiding Magistrate, Mr. L.A.Owolabi, granted him bail with two sureties, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.
