As President Bola Tinubu marks three years in office on May 29, his administration is crediting a twin strategy of bold economic reforms and sustained peace-building for stabilizing Nigeria and attracting investor confidence, the Presidency said Monday.

The Presidency, through Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye, Director of Information and Public Relations at the State House, said the reform agenda — from removal of the fuel subsidy and foreign-exchange harmonisation to new initiatives such as NELFUND and the CNG programme — is designed not only to fix macroeconomic imbalances but also to create the secure environment needed for growth.

It further stated that an equally central focus has been deliberate attention to conflict resolution and reconciliation.

“Economic recovery and peace are two sides of the same coin,” said Mr. Abiodun Oladunjoye. “You cannot attract long-term investment into communities riven by grievance. We’re working to end disputes and restore confidence so development can follow.”

According to Oladunjoye, the administration points to several high-profile interventions to illustrate its approach, stressing that after decades of unrest in Ogoniland that halted oil activities in parts of the Niger Delta, the Office of the National Security Adviser convened fresh consultations with community leaders, NNPCL, traditional institutions and security agencies.

The Presidential Committee on Ogoni Consultations, chaired by Professor Don Baridam, submitted its report in September 2025 — a development the Presidency said has helped rebuild trust and cleared the way for the resumption of oil exploration.

“Honouring the memories of those affected and creating a framework for reconciliation were not symbolic acts,” Oladunjoye said.

“They were deliberate steps to create the conditions for responsible investment and for communities to participate in the gains.”

The Tinubu administration also highlighted the resolution of the Malabu Oil (OPL 245) dispute — a legal and political quagmire that long impeded development of a major oil asset. The Attorney-General has said the settlement ended years of uncertainty and could raise Nigeria’s production by roughly 150,000 barrels per day.

“Resolving legacy disputes unlocks real economic potential,” the State House director said. “When titles, contracts and communities are secured, investors see clarity instead of risk.”

Counting the gains of the Tinubu government, the presidency said in the aviation sector, the Federal Government’s long-running disagreement with Bi-Courtney Aviation Services over Murtala Muhammed Airport Terminal Two (MMA2) in Lagos was also brought to an end in April 2026 after ministry-led dialogue. Festus Keyamo, Minister of Aviation and Aerospace Development, announced the settlement as a sign that government and private operators can reach workable solutions without protracted legal battles.

It further stated that the administration has applied a similar model to internal security and communal tensions. In late April, President Tinubu hosted a 32-member delegation from Plateau State — including past governors, political and religious leaders, traditional rulers and youth representatives — for talks aimed at charting local, sustainable peace. Rather than impose directives, the President asked stakeholders to review earlier white papers and produce actionable recommendations.

“Peace cannot be dictated from Abuja; it must be owned locally,” Oladunjoye said. “The role of the Centre is to convene, to guarantee safety and to ensure that commitments are implemented.”

As the Tinubu government moves into its fourth year, Oladunjoye contended that combining fiscal reforms with targeted peace-building will remain a central plank of its agenda. “Stability is not an add-on to economic policy,” he said. “It is the foundation.”
