Kelechi Iheanacho scored a dramatic 98th-minute penalty as Celtic defeated Motherwell 3-2 on Wednesday night to keep the Scottish Premiership title race alive.
The Nigerian forward converted from the spot deep into stoppage time after referee John Beaton awarded Celtic a penalty following a VAR review for a handball by Sam Nicholson.
Iheanacho calmly fired home from 12 yards to move Celtic within one point of league leaders Hearts ahead of the final day of the season.
The final whistle sounded moments after the goal, triggering wild celebrations from Celtic supporters, who flooded onto the pitch at Fir Park after the emotionally charged contest.
Celtic had appeared set to drop vital points after surrendering a 2-1 lead late in the match before the stoppage-time penalty handed them one final opportunity.
The result means the Scottish Premiership title race will now be decided on the final day of the campaign.
Hearts remain top of the table after a 3-0 home win over Falkirk as they chase a first league crown in 66 years.
Despite Hearts leading the standings, Martin O’Neill’s side know victory in their final fixture could still secure Celtic’s 56th league title.
Celtic’s title push comes after a turbulent season marked by managerial instability at the club.
O’Neill returned in October to replace Brendan Rodgers following the Northern Irishman’s departure before later stepping aside during Wilfried Nancy’s unsuccessful eight-game spell in charge.
After results declined under Nancy, O’Neill was reappointed in January and has since guided Celtic back into contention for the title.
Iheanacho’s late winner further underlined his growing influence at the club during the decisive stage of the season.
