According to a report by Daily Post on Thursday, May 14, 2026, the Senior Special Assistant on Media to the Delta State Governor, Ossai Success, has expressed disappointment over the criticism and mockery directed at the Lead Pastor of Streams of Joy International, Jerry Eze, following the death of Nollywood actor Alex Ekubo.………
The controversy began after an old photograph showing Pastor Jerry Eze praying for the late actor resurfaced on social media shortly after news of his death became public.
Alex Ekubo reportedly died on Tuesday after battling cancer for a prolonged period.
Following the announcement of his death, several Nigerians, including fans, entertainers, religious followers, and public figures, shared messages of condolence and tributes across social media platforms.
However, attention later shifted to a photograph showing Pastor Jerry Eze praying for the actor during his illness, leading to debates and criticism from some online users.
Some individuals on social media questioned the effectiveness of prayers and healing ministries, using the actor’s death to criticise the pastor.
Others mocked the situation by claiming that the prayers offered for the late actor did not prevent his death despite his health challenges.
The discussions quickly spread online as users expressed different opinions regarding faith healing, illness, and the role of religious leaders during difficult health conditions.
Reacting to the criticism, Ossai Success defended Pastor Jerry Eze and condemned those making negative comments about the pastor.
In a post shared on his official Facebook page, the media aide stated that he was disappointed by the mockery directed at the cleric.
