Nigerian socio-political activist and businessman Isaac Fayose has voiced strong anger over allegations that the All Progressives Congress (APC) diverted over ₦800 billion from the Federation Account Allocation Committee (FAAC) to fund President Bola Tinubu’s re-election campaign.

The allegations were originally raised by the African Democratic Congress (ADC), which accused President Tinubu and APC state governors of orchestrating the diversion of the funds for political purposes.

Reports also suggest that the controversy surrounding the alleged diversion has contributed to a visible crack within the Progressive Governors Forum.

Reacting through a video posted on his official Facebook page, Fayose described the alleged misappropriation as a key reason why many Nigerian states remain underdeveloped, arguing that money that should be used for public services and infrastructure is instead being channeled into political agendas.

He called on Nigerians to be more discerning about the handouts they receive during political campaigns, asserting that the rice and cash being distributed to voters are funded by the very taxes and allocations that belong to the people themselves.

He further warned that allowing the APC to return to power in 2027 would only worsen the country’s situation, and urged citizens to use their votes wisely in the upcoming elections.

It is worth noting that these are allegations made by an opposition party and a critic of the current administration, and no official findings or court rulings have established the claims as fact.
