In a recent interview shared by Arise TV on Wednesday, May 13, 2026, NDC chieftain Chidi Mike spoke on perception, governance, and the need for a new direction in Nigeria’s political space.

He stated during the interview that, “I’ve lived outside Nigeria for so long that people see Nigerians as people that have bad intentions of governance.” Reflecting on his personal experience abroad, Mike highlighted how Nigeria is often viewed on the global stage, particularly in relation to leadership and governance. He expressed concern that negative perceptions about the country are largely shaped by the actions of political leaders, which in turn affect how ordinary Nigerians are seen internationally.

According to him, this perception does not accurately represent the majority of Nigerians, whom he described as hardworking and genuinely committed to national progress. He argued that the problem lies not with the citizens but with a system that has repeatedly failed to reflect the true values and aspirations of the people.

Mike further emphasized that the emergence of new political movements like the NDC is driven by the desire to rebuild trust, both locally and internationally. He noted that restoring Nigeria’s image requires leadership rooted in accountability, transparency, and a genuine commitment to public service.

He concluded by stressing that changing the narrative about Nigeria will take deliberate effort, adding that a new generation of leaders must rise to demonstrate that governance can be done with integrity….See More
