The budget, shared in a viral screenshot, revealed how the young man spends every shilling from his salary, leaving many netizens divided over his priorities and financial discipline.

According to the breakdown, the highest expense is rent, which takes KSh 10,000 monthly. He also spends KSh 4,000 on shopping and another KSh 4,000 on transport.

Other expenses include KSh 1,000 for electricity, KSh 2,000 for water, KSh 2,000 for WiFi, KSh 2,000 for clothing, and KSh 2,000 for entertainment.

One item that especially caught the attention of social media users was the “girlfriend allowance,” which consumes KSh 4,000 every month. He also allocates KSh 3,000 to support his family back home and saves only KSh 1,000.

Others, however, sympathised with him, saying the rising cost of living in Kenya makes it difficult for young people to save despite having jobs.

Article has since triggered wider conversations about financial pressure among Kenyan youth and the struggle to balance responsibilities, relationships, and personal development on modest salaries.
