Nigerian comedian Ejiro, popularly known as Anointed Mouth, is set to headline his first-ever comedy special, Parables of Joy: My Take, as he cements his place in the country’s bustling entertainment scene.
The live show is scheduled for Sunday, August 9, 2026 in Lagos with a red carpet session at 5:00 PM and the main performance starting at 6:00 PM.
Unlike a conventional stand-up routine, the special promises a mix of storytelling, satire, and observational comedy, drawing from everyday experiences, cultural quirks, and societal realities. The production aims to deliver both laughter and reflection, offering audiences an experience that resonates beyond the stage.
Speaking to journalists ahead of the event, Ejiro described the show as a milestone in his career.
“This is my sixth show, but importantly, it is my first comedy special. It represents growth, consistency, and a deeper expression of my craft,” he said. “Over the years, I’ve been building a connection with my audience, and this special is a reflection of that journey.”
He explained that the concept of Parables of Joy is to move beyond surface-level humour, presenting stories that audiences can relate to.
“I want people to come, laugh wholeheartedly, but also see themselves in the stories. It’s about finding humour in everyday struggles and triumphs, leaving with something that stays long after the show ends,” he added.
The event will also feature performances from Klint da Drunk, Gordons, Forever, Femi Barbs, and Larry Jay, with a special musical performance by Timi Dakolo.
