The information was confirmed by the deceased’s father, Mzee Temba, who said the family first received communication from the police regarding the discovery of that part of their son’s body.

According to Mzee Temba, once the ongoing investigations by the police are completed, the family will make arrangements to lay the head to rest near the grave where James Temba’s body was buried.

He explained that during the initial burial of James Temba’s body, the family intentionally left a special emergency space at the gravesite in case the missing head was later found, so that it could be buried with dignity alongside the rest of his remains.

Mzee Temba also expressed gratitude to the police for their efforts and continued investigations, which eventually led to the recovery of the head.

The Dar es Salaam Special Police Zone also confirmed this development, which comes a couple of weeks after the body was discovered in the Msimbazi River on April 30, 2026.

Speaking to the media, Dar es Salaam Special Zone Police Commander SACP Jumanne Muliro said the head had been buried in the Kibeberu area of Kitunda, located in Ilala District, Dar es Salaam.

Commander Muliro revealed that police are currently holding five suspects in connection with the killing, including a traditional healer, as investigations continue into the motive behind the murder.
