Evening Headlines

Rudy Giuliani, the former mayor of New York City and attorney for President Donald Trump, said he had a “very significant spiritual experience” while hospitalized for viral pneumonia.

Giuliani, 81, returned to his online show “America’s Mayor Live!” Wednesday after being hospitalized and placed on a ventilator earlier this month during a serious case of pneumonia that was made more complicated due to restrictive airway disease.

“I also had a very, very – I believe – a very significant spiritual experience,” Giuliani said, claiming it occurred while he was “out of it.”

The former mayor said he couldn’t say whether he was “headed for heaven,” but believed he was “headed for a trial” with St. Peter.

However, Giuliani recalled, the judgment was interrupted by his late friend Peter J. Powers, who served as Giuliani’s right-hand man while running for mayor. Powers died in 2016 from lung cancer.

“Peter said some very significant words and I made sure as soon as I woke up, I started telling people and then I recorded it, in part,” Giuliani told his audience Wednesday evening. “And it’s meant a lot to me and I’ve been reflecting on it quite a bit.”

The former mayor said he planned to give a more in-depth description of his spiritual experience at a later date.

Giuliani was in critical condition during his hospitalization. He was admitted to the intensive care unit, placed on a ventilator because he was unable to breathe on his own, and, at one point, a priest performed last rites, his primary care provider told Fox News earlier this month.

But the former mayor of New York City managed to recover. He told his audience Wednesday that he was now feeling “100 percent.”

Before delving into current events, the topics that usually drive Giuliani’s show, he thanked his family, friends and audience for their prayers during his hospitalization – specifically the president.

“I want to thank the president for the wonderful call that he made to me,” Giuliani said. “Given the condition I was in at the time, I was recovering at the time but I was still pretty sick and we had a wonderful conversation.”

Giuliani has been a close ally to Trump for years, advising the president during his first administration and serving as his legal counsel during the Russia election interference investigation. Giuliani went on to become one of the president’s strongest legal advocates in efforts to overturn the 2020 election results – eventually being named a co-defendant in a Georgia election-interference indictment, which was later dismissed.

A New York court later disbarred Giuliani for making false statements about Trump’s 2020 election loss.

The former mayor has remained a friend to Trump and continues to advocate for his agenda.

He then went on to discuss current events, such as the war with Iran and Trump’s trip to China, returning to his normal topics of conversation on his show that streams online.
