A Nairobi family that spent days desperately searching for their missing son is now breathing a sigh of relief after 23-year-old Trevor Odhiambo was found alive on Thursday, May 14.

Trevor, who had gone missing on May 8 while walking home from an autism awareness conference with his mother, was reportedly found at around 5 pm near a shopping centre in Sigomere.
How Trevor was found
His sister, Doryn Odhiambo, told NgGossips that the reunion took place after members of the public recognised him through widely shared missing-persons appeals.

Residents started noticing Trevor around the area earlier in the morning and contacted his mother after recognising his face from social media posts and community messages that had circulated during the search.
Doryn confirmed that her brother had been reunited with the family, but said he had visible injuries when he was found.
“People believe he may have been brought there last night because residents only started seeing him this morning, before they called mum,” she explained.
Trevor had injuries
The family said Trevor had injuries on his ankles, hands and neck, raising fears that he may have been held somewhere against his will during the days he was missing.
Trevor’s mother immediately rushed him to the hospital for medical attention after he was found, where doctors treated and assessed him before allowing him to return home later in the evening.
The family says they have been assured that he will recover.

The emotional reunion brought an end to several painful days of uncertainty that had gripped the family and sparked concern among many Kenyans online.

How did Trevor disappear?
Trevor had disappeared at Sigomere shopping centre while walking home from the autism awareness conference with his mother.
His mother had briefly stopped at a nearby shop while Trevor continued ahead alone on what was described as a familiar five-minute route to their home.
