Dan Ulasi, a chieftain of the People’s Democratic Party, has expressed concern over the worsening economic situation in Nigeria, accusing political leaders of prioritising personal enrichment over the welfare of citizens.

Speaking during an interview on Arise News, Ulasi reacted to the growing economic hardship facing many Nigerians following recent government policies. In recent months, citizens across the country have protested against rising inflation, increasing food prices, and the high cost of living, developments many observers link to the removal of fuel subsidy by the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

According to Ulasi, the country’s political class has failed to address the suffering of ordinary Nigerians because many leaders are more focused on looting public resources than improving living conditions. He argued that the struggles currently faced by citizens are severe and continue to deepen across different sectors of the economy.

The PDP chieftain further compared the present economic situation to Nigeria’s colonial era, stating that the hardship being experienced under the current administration is worse than what Nigerians endured during colonial rule. He stressed that despite the country gaining independence many years ago, citizens are still battling poverty, unemployment, and economic instability.

During the interview, Ulasi stated that Nigeria is no longer under colonial control, yet the level of suffering among the people has become alarming. His comments add to the ongoing national debate over the impact of economic reforms introduced by the Tinubu administration.

The remarks have continued to generate reactions among political observers and citizens as concerns over inflation and the rising cost of living remain major issues across the country….See More
