Wike: PDP-APM alliance fraudulent, Makinde’s presidential bid dead on arrival

Nyesom Wike, minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has described the alliance between the Kabiru Turaki-led Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) faction and the Allied Peoples Movement (APM) as a “fraud”.

On Wednesday, the Turaki-led PDP faction told TheCable that it had formed an alliance with the APM ahead of the 2027 general election.

Following the development, Seyi Makinde, governor of Oyo State, declared his intention to contest the 2027 presidential election, stating that the PDP-APM alliance would allow the former ruling party to field candidates for all elective positions.

Speaking on Thursday while inspecting road projects in Abuja, Wike dismissed the claim, accusing Makinde of misleading Nigerians.

“That’s the 419 we are talking about,” Wike said.

In Nigeria, the term “419” is commonly associated with fraud.

Wike insisted that there is no alliance between the PDP and the APM or any other political party.

“INEC also knows that there is no such thing as a PDP-APM alliance,” the minister said.

According to him, the ongoing screening of aspirants by the Abdulrahman Mohammed-led PDP faction clearly shows that the party is operating independently.

“PDP has presented a presidential candidate. Watch out to see the name of the candidate who will be submitted to INEC and see whether there is anything called PDP-APM,” he said.

“What you have is Seyi Makinde joining APM to be able to actualise his presidential ambition, which is already dead on arrival.”

Wike also noted that Bala Mohammed, governor of Bauchi State, did not mention any PDP-APM alliance when he joined the party.
