Nollywood actor Daniel Etim Effiong has sparked reactions online after sharing his opinion on how couples should handle cheating in marriage during a conversation with media personality Ife Agoro.
Speaking during the discussion, Daniel said that when a partner ch+ats, the first response should not be anger or self-focus, but trying to help the offending partner “out of the problem.”
According to him, cheating should first be seen as a personal problem the ch+ating partner is dealing with before the couple can address the damage done to the relationship.
“If someone messes up in a marriage, your first approach should be, ‘How can I help you?’” he said.
When Ife Agoro questioned why the betrayed partner should be the one thinking about helping, Daniel insisted that the ch+ating partner is already “in a problem” and needs help getting out of it before both parties can begin healing together.
He added that focusing only on personal hurt would not solve the issue, stressing that love “is not self-seeking.”
However, Ife repeatedly pushed back against his opinion, saying she did not agree with the idea of prioritising the feelings of the ch+ating partner over the emotional pain of the person who was betrayed.
