NDC presidential candidate Peter Obi has expressed confidence ahead of the 2027 election, insisting that the support of state governors will not determine the outcome of the poll.
Speaking during a recent interview in Washington, D.C., Obi stated that he contested the last presidential election without the backing of any governor yet still secured victories in 12 states. He further alleged that two states were taken from him during the electoral process.
“For the 2027 election, it doesn’t matter if all 36 governors are with President Tinubu. I didn’t have a single governor in the last election, yet I won 12 states, even after they stole two states from me,” Obi said.
His comments have since generated mixed reactions online, with supporters praising his confidence while critics questioned his assessment of the previous election and his prospects for 2027.
