Lady, 24, Arrested For Threatening To Kill Estranged Lover

Police operatives from the Lagos State Command have arrested a 24-year old lady, Joy Azuanuka, for allegedly threatening  to kill her estranged lover, Passion Zion, over a quarrel. 

PMEXPRESS reports that the incident happened on 19th April, 2026, at Silver Estate, Idimu, Lagos.

According to the Police, the lady did threaten the life of the complainant

with series of text messages that she will deal with him and that he will die.

Thus, the matter was reported to the Police at Idimu Division. The lady was then arrested and detained at the station for interrogation.

After thorough interrogation and being found culpable, she was charged before the Ejigbo Magistrate Court for the alleged offence.

The charges read:

“That you, Joy Azuanuka, on 19/4/2026 at about 0953hrs at Silver Estate, Idimu, Lagos, in the Lagos Magisterial District, did threaten the life of one Passion Zion

with series of text messages that you will deal with him and that he will die and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 56 of the Criminal Laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

COUNT II:-” That you, Joy Azuanuka, on the same date, time and place, tried to cause breach of peace by sending a threatening text message to one Passion Zion, in the aforementioned Magisterial District, that he will die and thereby committed an offence contrary and punishable under Section 168(d) of the criminal laws of Lagos State of Nigeria 2015.”

She pleaded not guilty.

The prosecutor, Inspector Simeon Njue, then asked the Court to give a date for hearing since she pleaded not guilty to enable the Police to prove that she actually committed the alleged offence.

The Presiding Magistrate, F. Ogunkoyede, granted her bail in the sum of N500,000 with two sureties in like sum, who must show evidence of means of livelihood and tax payment while addresses will be verified by the Court.

The matter was adjourned for mention while the defendant was remanded in custody at the correctional center at Kirikiri town, Lagos, pending when she will perfect her bail conditions.
