The Leader of the INRI Evangelical Spiritual Church, Primate Elijah Ayodele, has cautioned the presidential candidate of the Nigeria Democratic Congress (NDC), Peter Obi, over his political alliance with former Kano State governor, Rabiu Kwankwaso, warning that it could negatively affect his presidential ambition.
In a statement issued through his media aide, Osho Oluwatosin, on Friday, Ayodele claimed that Obi was being driven by desperation and not fully attentive to “divine instructions,” which he said had placed him in a politically risky position.
The cleric alleged that Obi was surrounded by influences capable of derailing his ambition, adding that he was not receptive to guidance and was failing to properly assess those around him.
According to him, Kwankwaso would not genuinely support Obi’s political aspiration and would ultimately act in his own interest.
“Peter Obi doesn’t listen to divine instructions, and because of this, he has fallen into the wrong hands for his ambition,” Ayodele said.
He further stated that Kwankwaso was not committed to fighting for Obi’s success, insisting that he would eventually “sell him out,” though Obi may not realise it yet.
Ayodele added that Kwankwaso’s political moves were self-serving and not driven by loyalty or shared ambition.
He also expressed the view that Obi was not yet fully prepared for the responsibilities of the office he is seeking, while maintaining that his comments were not out of personal dislike but concern over leadership readiness.
The cleric concluded that Kwankwaso’s alleged political intentions would eventually become clear, though it might be too late for Obi to adjust his strategy if he remains on the same path.
