Rabiu Kwankwaso, former Kano governor, has dismissed claims that he is secretly working for President Bola Tinubu ahead of the 2027 election. Speaking on Global TV, he said only “foolish people” would believe such allegations, which have been peddled since his days in the NNPP.
Kwankwaso stated that he and his camp are working only for the NDC, where he and Peter Obi recently joined. He added that while Tinubu is his senior brother and friend, that does not mean they share political ideologies.
Key Points:
Kwankwaso’s strong denial aims to protect the NDC coalition from internal suspicion.
His comment that “those around Tinubu are creating problems” distances him from the president’s inner circle.
The allegation of working for Tinubu could undermine the opposition’s unity against the APC.
By declaring Obi the “best candidate from the south”, Kwankwaso signals full backing for the NDC ticket.
He believes eight months is enough time to convince Nigerians before the January 2027 election
